No previous Hairdressing qualifications are required to enable you to start on a level 2 Hairdressing qualification. This qualification forms part of the standard you will undertake, therefore GCSE or equivalent in Maths and English are advantageous when it comes to doing Functional Skills, however they aren’t a requirement. You will be employed in a salon placement for a minimum of 30 hours You will also be required to complete the (COVID-19) Infection Prevention qualification
On completion of this qualification you will be able to shampoo and condition hair, cut hair using a range of techniques, style and finish hair to create a variety of looks, and colour and lighten hair for ladies and men. You will be able to work with all hair types ranging from straight hair to very curly, wiry hair. You will also be able to carry out consultations with clients, demonstrate the professionalism, values, behaviours, communication skills and safe working practices associated with your role and be able to work without supervision to a high level ofprecision, with exceptional client care skills.
You will work within your salon placement for a minimum of 30 hours per week and do one day 'off the job' training at our Oracle Training centre in either Doncaster or Rotherham. There is a mixture of online and paperbased theory sessions and practical observation can take place in the training centre or the workplace.
It is strongly recommended that you purchase a kit to enable you to carry out the course to its full potential. You will also need to purchase a college t-shirt to wear at your sessions. All costs will be discussed on your induction prior to starting
You will be assessed throughout your course on your competence in practical assessments. Theory will be made up of project/assignments and mandatory multiple choice test papers. At the end of your qualification you will be required to carry out an End Point Assessments (EPA) This will supply a ‘snap-shot’ holistic assessment of your practical skills. Your skills, knowledge and behaviours learnt will be graded by an Assessor.
Upon completion of your Hairdressing level 2 qualification you will be competent to work has a junior stylist in salon carrying out services to a Level 2 standard. You can progress onto further learning and start a Level 3 Hairdressing qualification or side step into specialising in Barbering qualifications.
